Safe Haven - Rise of the RAMs: Book 1 of the Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Horror series (English Edition) Reviews
Nothing I love more, that a book about normal people, trying to make it in the APOC. That is this book. Well written characters, and a great plot line, actually found me unable to put this book down, until I finished it! Great read, and I am for sure getting book two now!
While I am a huge zombie fan, British works have never been high on my list. The only reason I can give is the complete and total lack of the character casts ability to protect themselves realistically. No guns, anywhere, regardless of the fact that the military has been wiped out, along with the police, or mostly anyway. Mr. Artinian has masterfully changed my point of view, by writing a wholly more realistic story. Loved the book, and the the characters. I hated to see it end, and hope for a sequel.
It takes some work to come up with zombie fiction that isn't predictable or boring but the author did just that. His characters made sense to me, they were well developed and some how he managed to write an action book with no special ops guys. The book frames a situation that goes from dodgy to full tilt boogie. And while I apologize for the pun, it seems no one can read this without saying, "I love Lucy!"
Safe Haven - Rise of the RAMs: Book 1 of the Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Horror series is the first zombie book that I can safely give five stars. The action is nonstop. In many respects, the people are worse than the zombies. The character Mike is both down to earth, and willing to do whatever he has to do to keep his siblings alive. The book has so many interesting scenes, but I think the most important scene was where Mike sacrificed himself to save the group. Mike’s proposed sacrifice affected each member of the group and not only his siblings. I cannot wait to start the next book in the series.
Wow! Read this in less than 24 hours. It had me hooked from the start. The characters are so real, so down to earth. I would hope that my brothers would come through for me the way Mike did for his family. Such horrible decisions to make, and he did them all for his loved ones. Such sadness for the other family involved, but the sacrifices one makes for family is truly evident in this book. I bought the digital version of this after purchasing signed copies from the author and I can't wait to see what happens next. The ending is definitely a cliff hanger. Pick up this book. You won't be sorry.
If you love to read "zombie books", you have to read this one! It grabs you on the very first page & never lets you go!The book follows the trials of Mike & his siblings, Emma, Sammy & Jake, as they try to live through the horrors of the Reanimated Corpses, better knows as RAMS. After their "safe" place in Leeds seems to be safe no longer, Mike decides they should try to reach the relative safety & isolation of their Grandmother's place in Scotland. All of the characters are well-developed, the action is non-stop and there are plenty of brains & gore for the zombie lover. There are also enough poignant moments to make you look for a tissue. I can't wait to continue this series!
